Friends For Life

Friends For Life provides over 1,800 life-affirming appointments each month to more than 1,700 members with life-threatening illness as well as support to their families and caregivers. Our more than 50 programs and services are designed to promote healing while lessening anxiety, isolation, and the need for institutional support. Programs include Nutrition and Social Support, Individual Counseling, Group Support, Massage and Bodywork Therapy, a Resource Library, Practical Workshops on a wide variety of topics and in-home care for individuals in the more debilitating stages of illness. All programs are facilitated by qualified practitioners who volunteer their time and all our services are provided free-of-charge so that limited income does not limit any members' access to our healing services.

The Diamond Centre is open 7 days each week, 76 hours each week, 350 days each year. Friends For Life has more than 400 enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers and only 5 paid staff. We rent the home known as the Diamond Centre For Living for $1 per year from the City of Vancouver.

Friends For Life is privately funded and receives less than 5% government funding. The other 65% of our revenue comes from our special events which include Dining Out For Life, Chefs For Life, Bingo For Life and Art For Life. About 30% of our revenue comes from generous individuals, corporations, small businesses, charitable gaming, foundations, and community organizations.
